The Moments in Between

Wife, mother, author, advocate, and spoken word poet.
Tulsa, OK.

Anna Renee

is a lover of details and is passionate about processing trauma and grief openly, hoping that it touches those reading and encourages them to share their own stories without shame. From Michigan to Oklahoma, from internal turmoil to inner peace, from fledgling poet to veteran of her craft, Anna Renee finds sanity in the eye of the storm from things as massive as motherhood and a healthy marriage, to those as (seemingly) small as a clean kitchen on Christmas Eve, the whole house quiet but the dog’s calm breathing, warm-scented candle flickering just right… as well as everything else representing beauty and progress, no matter their size.

Patina (2020)

Definition of patina

1: a thin surface layer or shell of varied color and texture, as on copper, developed as the result of age or weathering by exposure to deliberately harsh circumstances.

2: a collection of poetry and spoken word pieces that have been written in the middle of storms and sorrow, cheering from mountaintops, stumbling in the dark, crashing, burning, choosing to stand back up for the thousandth time…

and i am here (2025)

here is a stepping stone across the river of learning who you are; both a cocoon of growth in the dark and the emerge of things you never thought you’d become. a lantern, a lighthouse, the held hand of a close friend. this is what it means to discover. this is what it means to breathe.
